Come and join our political Sit-In on 2 August 2019, 9 am, infront of DIE LINKE, Karl-Liebknecht-Haus, Kleine Alexanderstr. 28, 10178 Berlin

WE PROTEST

No to the detention and torture of renowned figures of the Iranian labor movement by the Islamic Republic of Iran

No to the increase of state repression

No to war against the people of Iran

WE DEMAND THE PARTY DIE LINKE TO

Make a clear statement regarding the political prisoners of the Iranian labor movement

Condemn publicly the repressions of the Iranian State against its political prisoners in general and the upcoming trials on August 3, 2019 in particular

Express soildarity with the labor movement in Iran
Even though there is a growing debate on the possibilities of an imperialist war against Iran that we strongly condemn, we cannot ignore the human rights abuses of the Iranian state against its people.

Upcoming Saturday, on 3 August 2019, an important court trial against political prisoners, in which seven renown members of the Iranian labor movement are going to be sentenced, is going to take place: Esmaeil Bakhshi and Ali Nejati, important members of the progressive labor movement of the Haft Tappeh sugarcane factory – the largest sucercane factory in Iran. Amir Amirgholi, Amirhossein Mohammadifard, Sanaz Allahyari, and Asal Mohammadi, editors of the leftist online magazine GAM that medially supported the labor movement. And finally, Sepideh Gholian, a political activist who supported the Haft Tappeh labor movement. 5 of these 7 defendants are currently imprisoned, the others were bailed. The defendants will be heard by the bloodthirsty judge Moheyseh, who is responsible for a large amount of executions and the imposition of unproportionally harsh penalties ever  since he has assumed office.

Besides these, there are many more political prisoners: 4 activists of the 33 who were imprisoned after the 1 May demonstrations 2019 are still imprisoned without trial, the student Leyla Hosseinzadeh, as well as more than 700 people from Arabic, Kurdish, and Azerbaidjan descent, such as teachers, environmental activists and women’s rights activists who have been imprisoned since March 2019.

We will not accept this! We are asking the party DIE LINKE to not only oppose an imperialist war against Iran, but also to strongly condemn these state repressions, which pave the way for more neoliberal reforms and austerity politics. As an internationalist party in support of labor movements worldwide, it is their duty to take a public position and call upon the Islamic Republic of Iran to end their brutal repression against progressive forces in the country. We will not leave before the party DIE LINKE has published an official statment!

In solidarity,

Association of leftist Iranian activists in Berlin
